Exxon-Alaska Relationship Tenses Up Over Pipeline

June 27th, 2008

Many Alaskans are feeling bitter about the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision Wednesday to slash the amount of punitive damages Exxon Mobil Corp. must pay for the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill. “Exxon has made billions of dollars off our North Slope oil. June 23rd, 2008

Democratic candidates for Congress stuck largely to energy issues — and, when the chance arose, blasted incumbent Republican Rep. Don Young — at a Sunday night debate in Fairbanks. Berkowitz said lower energy costs would leave people with more money to invest, spend and put their kids through school. “It doesn’t matter to me if it’s gas coming down from the North Slope or renewables or maybe some kind of technology that we’re just learning about today,” he said. “Let’s start doing it for ourselves.”
