A Budget Fact Check

ANCHORAGE - Acting Governor Sean Parnell touts his tax-cutting credentials, and disparages Ethan Berkowitz' record. Here are the facts:

FACT: Sean Parnell, not Ethan Berkowitz, passed the massive, crippling tax increase known as ACES, which has shut down Alaska's ability to benefit from our own natural resources.

FACT: Sean Parnell, not Ethan Berkowitz, has been the architect of the largest budgets that Alaska has ever seen.

FACT: Ethan Berkowitz, not Sean Parnell, was the one who worked with a bipartisan group, including Lisa Murkowski and Andrew Halcro, to protect Alaska's future when oil was at $9 a barrel.

FACT: Sean Parnell, not Ethan Berkowitz, abandoned Alaska when it was headed for disaster to act as lawyer-lobbyist for the oil companies, including working for the firm that helped Exxon evade responsibility for the Exxon Valdez disaster.

FACT: Ethan Berkowitz, not Sean Parnell, is still the only candidate running for Governor who offered Alaskans a plan for their future.
