Ethan at the Anchorage Creeks Cleanup

Ethan had a great time cleaning up during the Anchorage Creeks Cleanup on Saturday, May 10th at Westchester Lagoon. Thanks to everyone who participated in this event. And congrats to all the Salmon Run participants we watched go while working at Westchester. We can’t wait to join you during one of the many upcoming foot races this summer!

Nils Andreassen, Alejandro Marqueda, Karen & Erick Cordero, Stephanie & Rex Butler, Daniel Esparza, Mariko Churchill, Scott Kim, Sunil Sethi and Kevin & Marie Husa co-hosted a meet & greet for Ethan at La Cabaña Restaurant in Anchorage. It was a great opportunity to have some good food and discuss the many roads people take to becoming an Alaskan.
Ethan on the Kenai Peninsula

While visiting the Kenai Peninsula, Ethan held meet & greets at the Captain’s Roast in Homer and at River City Books in Soldotna. He got a chance to see some old friends and meet new faces and talked about everything from cattle farming in rural areas to transportation. He participated in some lively discussion on KSRM’s Sound-Off with Pat Hawkins and talked to the Homer Tribune (link to article) and KBBI radio while he was in the area.
Ethan’s reception in Kodiak

While in Kodiak for the ComFish Congressional debate, Ethan attended a reception at the Second Floor Restaurant. Despite the unseasonally cold weather, Ethan had a great time on the docks talking with local fishermen. He appreciated the opportunity to hear more about the effects of recent fisheries legislation on the Kodiak community.
Ethan visits Juneau

Ethan spent a couple of days in Juneau, catching up with old friends and learning about the challenges to economic development in Southeast. While he was there, he held a meet and greet at Zephyr Restaurant, where he answered questions and recruited volunteers to help out his campaign for Alaska’s Congressional seat.

Next week, “Super Tuesday” comes to visit, and it’s our turn to participate in the presidential primaries. This is our chance to speak out for the candidate we support and the change we want, and I hope Alaska sets record levels of participation. I look forward to enthusiastic, positive and respectful discussion. That’s a hallmark of a healthy democracy. It helps that there is a strong field of contenders this year.

Big news from the national political blog Daily Kos. They commissioned a poll and released its results on December 10: Ethan Berkowitz has a strong seven point lead over Don Young.
