Guidelines for writing a letter to the editor
We’ve got a few tips for volunteers.
1) Keep it short and focused! Papers have word limits for letters to the editor (the Anchorage Daily News has a word limit of 225 words) but the general rule of thumb is that shorter letters are better. Rather than a list of reasons you support Ethan, it’s better to focus specifically on one issue.
2) Make it personal! Tell the editor how you know Ethan, give specific examples of why you personally support him, or say why you care about a certain issue.
3) Keep it positive! This is an exciting time, and it’s a chance for us to rise above partisan politics. Let’s work for change by talking about what we’re for, not what we’re against.
