Supporting Victims of Exxon Valdez
February 29th, 2008
It’s been almost 20 years since the Exxon Valdez spill, almost 20 years since Exxon promised to make the people of Prince William Sound whole—and still Exxon continues to slick the judgment of a jury and deny spill victims the justice that is theirs.
On February 26, 2008, Ethan proudly stood with other Alaskans in Washington DC, including Governor Sarah Palin, to urge the Supreme Court to do the right thing. Our message was clear- Alaskans stand together, united, in support of the 33,000 spill victims who have waited too long for a company that made $11 billion in profits over the past 3 months to honor its promise and pay the debt it owes.

How about those caucuses!
Wow! The enthusiasm was contagious. Traffic jams and crowded caucuses. Fire marshals closing the doors. It was a watershed night that said, “Goodbye to low turnouts” and “Hello to change.”
Ethan shared the chaos with his wife Mara and their two kids, Hannah, 7, and Noah, 4. Noah rode on Ethan’s shoulders most of the night, while Hannah kept counting all the shoes.
Ethan gave his support to Barack Obama because he represents a new kind of politics, grounded in hope and optimism. Those are the proven values and new direction that Ethan wants the country to take.
Dog Days of March
Come celebrate the ceremonial Iditarod start in Anchorage this Saturday. I’m excited to handle dogs for my Fairbanks friend and Iditarod rookie Molly Yazwinski.
Best of luck to all the mushers, checkpoint volunteers and Iditarod supporters!
Be a Trailbreaker for Berkowitz!
The election trail is about as long as the Iditarod trail, and I’m grateful that almost 1,000 contributors from across Alaska have helped me on my way.
Please add to our numbers by making a contribution of:
$36 for the number of years the race has been run
$96 in honor of the number of mushers running the race this year
Or even up to $1,049 for the number of miles in the race!
